Tommy Boy (1995)
This week we tackle the 1995 comedy classic Tommy Boy starring Chris Farley and David Spade. We’re heading out on the road with a recently graduated Tommy (Farley) and accountant Richard (Spade) to try and save Tommy’s Dad’s company after he passes away. They sing, fight, make up and maybe even become friends with some wild and interesting stuff happening along the way. Dave, Rob and Kurt will break down their favorite parts of the film, as well as discussing other stuff in this fun 90 minute comedy thrill ride. Filled with slapstick humor, quotable lines, and the chemistry of Farley and Spade, Tommy Boy remains a beloved 90’s cult classic.

I found this podcast with a random search while looking for something to listen to while shoveling snow in Maryland, December 2025. Since then, I’ve been burning through episodes like a chainsmoker - in the car, at the gym, waiting for kids to be done with sports, and shoveling more snow. The movie episodes are my favorites as I’m a bit of a movie hound myself. I have to say that this (Tommy Boy) is one of your BEST episodes I’ve heard so far! All the usual informational content that you normally provide is there - the overview, trivia, and then giving your personal hot takes and opinions. But what makes this episode so great is that it completely goes off the rails! Not sure if you were enjoying some frosty beverages during the show, but by the end it’s the best kind of chaos one could hope to hear. While I’m sure the producer/editor (who apparently hates bug/spider talk) and your wives had some choice words, hearing you all riffing off each other, quoting lines, laughing, and giving each other brought me back to my own nights in the mid-nineties as an angsty teen with friends that I wish I had the equivalent of today. Thanks for that burst of serotonin and nostalgia, guys. I hope that many more of your episodes in the future have a little less formality and a lot more of this kind of energy.
